A secret beach in Phuket
Lighthouse Beach or Secret Beach near Promthep
Have you ever been to a secret beach? Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Why is it called “secret”? Because only experienced travelers know about it! Until recently, it didn’t even have a name.
The beach is small and secluded, though rather rocky. It’s a great spot for snorkeling enthusiasts and for those who want to have a photoshoot without crowds in the background.
You can swim here only in water shoes — the seabed is very rocky. But the water is extremely clean and clear.
How to get there: if you’re coming from Rawai Beach, before reaching Promthep Cape you’ll see a steep descent on the left side. The path is quite steep and in some places abrupt, so you’ll need proper footwear (not beach flip-flops!). You can also reach the beach from Promthep Cape itself — the route is less steep but longer.
How to get to the beach:
- On foot — unrealistic, too far.
- By taxi — possible, but make sure the driver waits for you (no mobile signal for calling a ride back!).
- By motorbike — the best option.
- By car — also possible, parking is available.
Approximate travel time (by vehicle):
- From Nai Harn: 5 minutes
- From Rawai: 10 minutes
- From Karon/Kata: 20 minutes
- From Patong: 40 minutes
We recommend bringing plenty of drinking water and a light snack — there are no cafes or shops there.
