Songkran in Phuket

Or Thai New Year. Literally, the word “Songkran” translates as “transition” and means the transition from the old to the new, from the past to the future.

It is traditionally celebrated in April, the hottest month of the year and symbolizes the beginning of the wet season. During this time people douse each other with water and there are many merry festivities in different parts of Phuket.
