What is the most delicious mango?
What is Thailand’s most popular fruit? It’s mango, of course. There are about 200 varieties of mangoes in Thailand. We decided to find out how different varieties of this fruit differ and which one is the best. We bought mangoes at a regular market and in the Tops supermarket, cause there is the largest selection of this fruit. We were looking for the ripest and ready to eat ones. Here we go.
8th place; Kheawsawei mango; we don’t recommend; 129THB. Tops.
The last, eighth place. This mango is not tasty at all and has a grassy flavor.
7th place; Thongdam mango; we don’t recommend; 59THB (counted for 55THB). Tops.
This one is not much better, so we won’t recommend it.
6th place; okay enough to eat; 70THB; Thai market.
Regular decent mango from the market, with no fiber at all.
5th place; Mamdokmai mango; okay enough to eat; 259THB. Tops.
The most expensive one we got. Not a bad mango with no fiber, but nothing special. You expect more for this price.
4th place; Mango with Turmeric Cheeks; decent one; 79THB. Tops.
This mango turned out to be tasty, but a bit watery and with lot of fiber, so the fourth place goes to it.
3rd place; Kaew mango; we recommend; 129THB. Tops.
This variety of mango is tasty and sweet with almost no fiber.
2nd place; we recommend; 40THB; Thai market.
The cheapest mango from the market takes the honorable second place. Very delicious and even overly sweet, but slightly sour and fibrous.
1st place; we recommend; 70THB; Thai market.
The first place goes to the cheap mango from the market. The sweetest of all, with no fiber. It has a unique taste, something between mango and papaya.
