What to Buy in a Thai Supermarket?

What can you buy in a large Thai supermarket? Save our guide!

Thai supermarkets offer more than just local goods — you’ll also find products from Europe and other countries.

First of all, it’s a vegetarian’s paradise. There are dozens of salad varieties, fresh fruits and vegetables, and an impressive selection of mushrooms. Among the most famous are shiitake mushrooms, known for their rich, woody flavor.

Thailand is synonymous with fresh seafood, and supermarkets are no exception. You can find affordable, fresh (not frozen) salmon. Be sure to try it as sashimi!

For meat lovers there is a wide selection of steaks, including premium wagyu beef from Japan, known for its marbled perfection. Plus, European delicacies like jamón, prosciutto, and cheeses.

There is delicious bread and pastries here. Fans of Russian cuisine can find dumplings, varenyky, and sour cream. And of course there is a vast array of Thai spices, sauces, and unique products like lotus root, which can be made into flour, candied snacks, baked dishes, or pickles.

Plan extra time for your visit to a Phuket supermarket — you won’t leave quickly!
