Chalong Pier Restaurant & Sports Bar is a laid-back spot right by Chalong Pier — an easy stop after a dive trip, a day out on the water, or simply to catch the sunset. The vibe is intentionally simple: grab a seat near the sea, watch the boats come back in, and take in the views over Chalong Bay. There are also tables upstairs on an open-air terrace, which is fantastic on clear days — though it’s uncovered, so there’s no shelter if it rains.
It’s both a restaurant and a sports bar in one. Inside, several screens show live sports on a regular basis — from major tournaments to matches they’ll put on “by request.” When the games are on, the place can feel lively and loud, with groups of friends, fans cheering, and plenty of chat around the bar.
The menu mixes Thai and Western comfort food. Thai favorites like spicy Tom Saap, som tam, pad kra pao, and red curry sit alongside fish & chips (served with tartar sauce and malt vinegar), a tuna Caesar salad, steak pie and other meat pies, slow-braised beef with gravy and mashed potatoes, mixed grills, fried prawns, and grilled salmon. Portions are filling, flavors are bold, and sides typically include potatoes, grilled vegetables, or mash.
A big bonus is the good value and cold beer: there’s draft beer (including Tiger), and the alcohol prices are noticeably better than at many nearby places. The staff are friendly and speak English confidently, larger groups are accommodated without fuss, and the place is pet-friendly — you may even see local dogs hanging around.
At peak times, food can take a bit longer to arrive. If you order the mixed grill, it’s worth asking about the meat options so you can avoid ending up with a steak that’s too tough.
