Rong Kopi is a cult-favorite “kopi” eatery in Phuket Old Town, located near the Jui Tui Shrine. It has a cozy, “like grandma’s house” atmosphere: a historic Thai-Chinese building, a charming old-school interior, pleasant music, and the option to sit both indoors and outside in a side alley for a truly local vibe.
The place is especially loved for its authentic Phuket-style breakfasts and Thai-Chinese cuisine. In the morning (roughly 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; closed on Wednesdays), the selection is wide, but popular items can sell out, so it’s best to come early. Highlights include mee sua (rice vermicelli soup), congee / khao tom, dumplings and wontons, as well as Moo Hong — braised pork in a slightly sweet and aromatic sauce. Portions are often small, which many people appreciate because it allows you to try more different dishes. In the evening, the restaurant opens for a second service with a different menu, featuring dishes such as Kao Tom Hang (rice porridge / rice soup with pork) and wonton soup with signature Chinese-style sauces.
The drinks are another big draw: iced Thai tea (including a “smoothie-style” version), black coffee with condensed milk, and sometimes fresh coconut. Prices are very affordable, and the staff are attentive, friendly, and fast, even when it’s busy. A small downside: it can feel cramped and crowded inside, and there is no air conditioning.
