SKA BAR & Kata Seafood Restaurant sits at the far end of Kata Beach, right by the rocks — a spot where the sound of the waves follows you all evening and it’s easy to stay longer than you planned. Its biggest draw is the ocean view and sunsets: tables are set directly on the sand, there’s shade, and at dusk it’s especially nice to grab a drink and watch the shoreline fade into night.
Inside, the vibe is laid-back with a reggae/ska feel — music, an easy beach rhythm, and a casual bar setup. It’s a calm escape from the busier central part of the beach. Guests sometimes smoke nearby, which may bother anyone sensitive to the smell. For groups, there are simple free games, making it a good place to linger.
The menu is large and straightforward, covering both Thai staples and familiar Western options. Expect curries, stir-fries, pad krapow, green papaya salad, plenty of seafood (including mussels and prawns), pineapple fried rice, soups (such as tomato soup), and snacks like garlic bread. There’s also pizza, pasta, and chicken combo sets. Portions are generous, food usually comes out quickly, and the staff are friendly and can accommodate allergies — though service can be a bit inconsistent at times.
The bar offers cocktails, beer, juices, fresh coconuts, and Thai iced tea; alcohol can feel a little above average in price. In the evenings, a fire show adds extra atmosphere (9:00 PM on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays). Nearby you’ll also find plenty of water activities: surf lessons and board rentals, snorkeling, a dive center, boat trips, and even e-foil rides (more expensive, but with a lot of freedom on the water).
