Question

Is there duty-free shopping in Phuket?

Insider's Response

Yes, there is a branch of the King Power Duty Free store in Phuket. To visit the store, you’ll need a passport and an outbound international flight ticket dated within the next 60 days. The store serves only foreigners who are in the country on tourist visas or have a visa-exempt entry stamp in their passport. A free shuttle service is provided to and from Phuket International Airport.

Phuket also has another duty-free shopping center – GMS Duty Free. It is located in the Kathu area, between Patong Beach and Phuket Town. The store is divided into three zones: Crystal Sand, Silver Rain, and Golden Sun. Here you can find a wide range of items, including gadgets, clothing, footwear, accessories, sporting goods, toys, as well as alcohol and cigarettes.

Is it really worth shopping at duty free? That depends entirely on the type of product you’re looking for. We recommend checking prices for your desired items in Phuket’s top shopping malls before making a decision.
