This house museum is a prime example of Chinese colonial architecture. Chinpracha is the home of a family that moved to Phuket from China during the tin boom. Since 1903, this villa has been home to six generations of the Chinpracha family. The current owners of the house keep many antiques and photographs.

Part of the house is open to tourists, so visitors have a unique chance to see how rich people lived 100 years ago. The owner herself will show you the two bedrooms on the second floor, the kitchen and the entire first floor. Inside there is a courtyard with a pond where it is nice to cool off in the heat. Such a courtyard was the heart of any Sino-colonial style house. It also acts as the “lungs” of the house, allowing the air to be cooled by the water from the pond and free to walk around the house.

Some movies were filmed in this house, such as The Adventures of Indiana Jones, so a visit will still put you in touch with the famous location.
