Ding Li Ji Fan in Phuket is a no-frills local eatery with an open kitchen and fast service. The dining room is clean and well kept, but seating is tight and the aisles are narrow. Since there’s no air-conditioning, it can feel noticeably hot inside — especially near the large stock pots — and queues are common at peak hours. Payment is straightforward Thai-style: no cards, just cash or QR.
The menu revolves around Hainanese chicken rice: fragrant, fluffy rice served with generous pieces of juicy chicken and a pleasantly spicy dipping sauce. If you ask, they’ll serve the chicken without the skin. There are also mixed plates with multiple toppings — for example, rice with three different meats — as well as options like duck rice and sweet red pork (moo daeng). The crispy pork belly and roasted pork are standouts too: tender, juicy meat with a genuinely crackly crust.
Soup and noodle lovers can go for wonton soup or wonton noodles — each wonton comes with a whole fresh shrimp, and the broth is rich and flavorful. You’ll also find flat noodles, fish balls, and an herbal chicken soup with egg noodles. Orders often come with a light clear soup on the side (it can be a bit salty). For dessert, coconut-based sweets sometimes appear.
Portions are generous and prices typically fall in the 50–100 baht range. Delivery is available. Parking is limited: there’s one spot by the entrance and a few along the street, while scooters can be parked conveniently right in front. It’s open during the day and closes around 3:00 PM.
