Kati Beach Bar & Restaurant sits at the start of Bang Tao Beach, on a quiet stretch of coastline between Surin and Bang Tao. It’s easy to settle in right by the sea — tables are set on the sand beneath palm trees, overlooking the bay and small boats. Some tables have umbrellas, and in the evening the place feels especially welcoming thanks to soft ambient lighting.
The menu focuses on Thai cuisine and seafood, with a noticeable lean toward authentic Southern Thai flavors. You’ll find curries, tom yum, salads (including mango salad), pad thai, morning glory, and mango sticky rice, as well as simple breakfast options like sandwiches and coffee. Seafood lovers can pick their catch from a live seafood tank — fish and crabs are chosen before they’re cooked. Standouts include seafood fried rice served in a pineapple, prawns (including tempura), soups, and cocktails such as a Mai Tai-style variation. Vegetarian dishes can be adjusted on request.
Service is quick, friendly, and attentive, especially for families with children. A free round-trip transfer is available if arranged in advance (most convenient via messenger). In the evenings — and particularly for tables right on the water — it’s best to book ahead.
Prices are a little higher than at basic beach bars, but still reasonable for a beachfront spot. Parking can be tricky: the access road is narrow, so it’s often easier to leave your car on the main road. There are no sun loungers for swimming — this is primarily a place to eat and relax by the water. The sunset isn’t always visible directly from the terrace due to the shoreline’s orientation. Occasionally there may be minor mix-ups with timing or the bill, but staff typically resolve issues on the spot.
