M Beach Club in Phuket sits right on the shoreline within the JW Marriott complex in Mai Khao. It’s an easy place to slip into “beach evening” mode: cushioned sofas set on the sand, a bar by the water’s edge, and terraces facing the sunset as the sky shifts slowly from orange to deep blue. The venue feels polished and well kept (even the restrooms are stylish), and you can step straight from the seating area onto the beach.

The main reasons to come are the sunset, happy hour, and fire shows. Live performances run in the evenings (on some days earlier, on others closer to nightfall), and later the music picks up with a DJ setting a more energetic pace. The vibe works equally well for a relaxed romantic dinner or a livelier night out. Every now and then an elephant may pass along the beach nearby, and the club is also not far from the spot where planes fly low on their approach to land.

Food is served à la carte, with regular BBQ/buffet nights. The buffet typically features grilled meat and fish (pork, beef, chicken), seafood, salads, pasta and seafood stations, Asian dishes, and desserts — including mango sticky rice and assorted dessert sets. Bar snacks fit right in too: nachos, shrimp rolls, and cornbread. Drinks worth trying include tamarind-based cocktails and passion-fruit mojitos, though some cocktails can be on the simpler side and not always perfectly balanced.

One of the biggest strengths is the service: staff are warm and attentive, quick to help with seating, photos, and arranging transfers if the weather turns. A few things to keep in mind: prices are in line with resort venues, sharing platters don’t always feel especially generous, and on late seatings the buffet may need refilling. Insects can be bothersome on the beach at times, and the space is occasionally closed for private events — so it’s best to check the schedule in advance.
