Not everyone knows about this market, as it’s hidden deep within a neighborhood between small hotels and buildings in the center of the area, not far from Kata Beach. Locals call it the Kata Walking Street Market — and they come here just as often as tourists.
Despite its modest location, the market surprises visitors with its size and variety: it has everything (or almost everything) you could possibly try from inexpensive Thai street food.
The market operates like a food court: you walk past dozens of stalls, choose what you like, place your order, pay, and then take your ready dish to any seat at the large shared tables in the center. You can buy drinks the same way. It’s a simple, atmospheric, and very tasty place. And very clean — staff quickly clear the tables after guests.
The market is open daily from 11:00 to 23:00. Next to this kingdom of food, you’ll also find several stalls selling souvenirs and clothing, so you can pick up everything you need in one place. Bargaining is appropriate, especially when buying clothes; prices are often negotiable and not always fixed.
Important: this is not a restaurant — there is no air conditioning and it can get stuffy; the shopping experience is quite tourist-oriented, and payment is mostly in cash.
The market is ideal for those who want to have a quick, inexpensive, and varied dinner; try several dishes in one evening; and also pick up something useful for their vacation without going to a store.
