Seahorse Sailing Phuket is located in the resort area of Bang Tao, which means you can learn sailing right by the beach. Lessons take place either in a sheltered lagoon or out on the open sea, depending on weather conditions.
The company was founded after recognizing the potential of sailing education within the sports tourism and hospitality industry. The sailing school strives to make sailing in Phuket accessible (as evidenced by the convenient location), as well as safe and inspiring.
Courses for children:
- 4-day programs with 3 hours of training per day (weekdays), where young participants learn to handle the boat and tie marine knots.
- One-day weekend sessions: an opportunity to try sailing in an accessible format.
- “After-school” course: 1.5-hour evening sessions on small O’pen Skiff boats on weekdays.
Classes are held in groups of up to 12 students. Participant age range: 7 to 17 years old.
Courses for adults:
- A course of four sessions: designed for beginners, includes boat handling and knot-tying skills.
- One-day private course (2 hours): individual training on an ILCA (Laser) boat for 1–2 people.
Seahorse Sailing Phuket instructors are certified according to ISSA (International Sailing Schools Association) standards, ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism.
The founder, Scott Duncanson, has dedicated his entire life to sailing, progressing from boatbuilder to owning his own school. Head coach Ploypan Mee-u-samsen (Garfield) is a former member of the Thai national team with experience in Optimist, Byte CII, and Laser classes, as well as many years of coaching practice.
At Seahorse Sailing Phuket in SAii Laguna, you can fully immerse yourself in sailing and, if you wish, progress to participating in international regattas. The school is a great choice for both beginners and advanced sailors.
