A memorial created in memory of those who perished during the tsunami. In 2004, a terrible natural disaster occurred in Phuket, claiming the lives of thousands of people. Many families lost loved ones, who died or went missing in the waves of the powerful tsunami that suddenly struck the islands. The height of the wave at this location reached up to 15 meters. The official name of the memorial is “Heart of the Universe.” The memorial consists of a huge ten-meter sphere made of thick wave-shaped wire, symbolizing the colossal natural energies dormant within our planet. The area where the memorial is located is a park with children’s playgrounds, sports equipment, and access to the beach.
