A trip around Krabi province

The picturesque province of Krabi is 200 kilometers from Phuket. Many people think that Krabi is a solitary island, but it is not. Krabi consists of mainland and archipelago and includes many islands with beaches, clear water, white sand and bizarre rocks. We suggest you take a short trip to Krabi – the program is perfect for a weekend getaway.

How to get to Krabi from Phuket

You can get to Krabi from Phuket by land or by water. We suggest you make the trip by car – you can visit several interesting locations along the way.

What to see in Krabi

Samet Nangshe viewpoint. It is located in Phangnga, between Krabi and Phuket. It offers a picturesque panorama of the bay, mangrove forest with rivers and streams, islands and karst mountains.

Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol Temple. A grand Buddhist temple. It was opened not so long ago, in 2018, so few tourists know about its existence. But the temple is definitely worth a look: the scale here is incredible! The 70-meter-high golden tower can be seen from afar. Inside, the temple is decorated with stunning works of art.

Kuan Nom Saow View Cafe. Located on a hill in the middle of the jungle, it offers a mesmerizing view of Krabi’s bizarre cliffs. Here you can enjoy traditional Thai food and take beautiful photos.

Ao Nang Resort. Ao Nang is the most famous beach resort in Krabi. Due to its good location and good transportation accessibility, it attracts many tourists. The infrastructure is well developed here, and you can find a suitable hotel to spend the night. Also here you can rent a boat to go on a boat trip around the islands of the province.

Chicken Island. The island gets its name from the rocks that resemble the head of a chicken. There is clear water, bizarre coral reefs and an abundance of marine life, so the island is a great place for snorkeling. By the way, you can snorkel here at night to observe “sea fireflies” – luminous plankton.

Railay Beach. This beach is located in the bay between two rocks and attracts with its mesmerizing nature: blue lagoon, stalactite caves, diverse fauna – here you can watch funny macaques and spectacled langurs. If you go through a narrow gorge, you can come to the Princess Lagoon. An ancient legend says that once Indian princess Pranang died in these waters, and since then her spirit lives in the grotto and helps to fulfill wishes if you sincerely ask for them.

Return trip to Phuket

On the way back to Phuket, you can also have time to visit some interesting locations.

Tiger Cave Temple. Tiger Cave attracts tourists and pilgrims. According to legend, here a monk stopped for meditation, and the tigress, the mistress of this cave, did not touch him. To climb up to the temple, you have to pass the test of the “road of purification” – 1237 stone steps at a slope of almost 70 degrees. According to legend, Buddha himself climbed this mountain and left his footprint on the rock. The path is not easy and requires good physical fitness, but the panorama that opens up from the top makes you quickly forget about the hard climb.

Khao Pra Bang Khram Reserve. It is home to rare species of wildlife and birds, and streams feed several lakes. One among them, the Blue Lake, is filled with water of incredible celestial color.

This is what a trip to Krabi province can be like. Be sure to explore the island and discover new and unusual places. A bright and memorable vacation is in your hands!
