Question

How much does it cost to rent a bike in Phuket? And how much money should you set aside for fuel?

Insider's Response

Two-wheeled transport is the perfect option for Phuket! A bike is great for short daily trips, but for longer routes, mountain roads, and off-road conditions, it’s better to choose a more powerful motorcycle.

Bike rental prices

Bikes (125 cc) start at 300 baht per day, while more powerful ones (150, 155, and 160 cc) cost between 350-600 baht per day.
Motorcycles can be found for around 600 baht, and prices for quality models with engine capacity from 350 cc range from 1000 to 1800 baht per day.

Fuel prices

Fuel prices fluctuate around 40-50 baht per liter. The island has well-equipped gas stations. But if you run out of fuel on the road, street vendors along highways and tourist spots can help. The quality of their fuel is slightly lower, but they are very helpful in emergencies.

What you need to rent

  1. Passport
  2. International driver’s license category A
  3. Age over 18. Some companies rent only to drivers aged 21 and older.
  4. Deposit. Sometimes they ask for a passport as a deposit, but never leave your documents — there is a risk of encountering scammers. Insist on a cash deposit.

To avoid unpleasant situations (poor quality transport, disputes over deposit returns), it’s better to use reputable companies. Fill out the form below, and we’ll help you find a suitable bike.
