Question

How to get around Phuket safely with a small child? Are there taxis with child seats? And what’s better to take: a stroller or an ergo carrier?

Insider's Response

The short answer: traveling around Phuket with a baby under six months is absolutely possible. The main thing is to prioritize safety and plan your logistics in advance.

A lightweight stroller and an ergo carrier are the ideal combination. Phuket has many stairs, uneven paths, and beach walkways. A stroller will be useful for long walks in city areas and parks, as well as in shopping malls.

Getting around longer distances is a bit trickier. To be honest, child seats in Thai taxis are very rare. Services like Grab or Bolt do not guarantee a proper seat. You can read more about this in the article Transport in Phuket.

The best option when traveling with a child is to rent a car.

Tip: plan your transfers ahead of time. If you arrive in the evening or at night, it’s better to book a car from a trusted provider and specify that you need a child seat. You can book an airport transfer through  GetTransferAlpha Travel , or AsiaPhuket.
