How to get to Freedom Beach?

Freedom Beach is a secluded natural treasure near the bustling Patong, where you can enjoy nature and solitude. Entrance fee is 100 ฿, but not everyone wants to pay, so there are different ways to get there. Here’s how you can do it:

By water
From the beaches of Patong, Kata, or Karon, you can rent a boat and reach Freedom Beach by water without any hassle. This option is not very budget-friendly: the boat costs around 1500 ฿, so it’s more economical to go with a group or find fellow travelers locally. If you arrive by boat, you don’t have to pay the entrance fee.

By land

Paid option
The easiest way is to order a taxi to Freedom Beach. The driver will take you to the parking lot, from where the main staircase leads down to the beach. First, you walk down a dirt road, then along an easy jungle trail. After that, you pay the 100 ฿ entrance fee and enjoy the beauty of the beach.

You can also ride a bike to the parking lot (coordinates) and leave it there.

Free option
If you like hiking and are ready for a bit of a walk, descend along the trail closer to Karon (coordinates). Look for the cafe, behind which the path down to the sea begins. The trail has a slight slope but is picturesque: streams, trees, and birds in the jungle. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and long clothing (mosquitoes may bite). A heads-up: climbing back up will be tough but doable.
