The Similan Islands are one of the most picturesque destinations near Phuket! This archipelago of 11 islands is recognized by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful places on the planet. So the answer is – yes, absolutely worth it!
The Similans are located about 100 km from Phuket: you can get there by a small boat or a speedboat. The trip usually takes around 2.5 hours. However, due to rough seas during the low season, tours to these islands are closed. They usually reopen from October 15, when the journey becomes safer.
So, is it worth visiting the Similan Islands in October? Definitely yes – as long as you don’t suffer from seasickness and are ready for a somewhat bumpy ride. Of course, you can always take seasickness pills just in case.
