On which beaches in Phuket can you play volleyball?
Insider's Response
Volleyball courts can be found on Karon, Kata, Patong, Surin, and Nai Harn beaches. You can bring your own ball and play with friends or join local communities that organize games and meet other enthusiasts.
On Patong Beach, games are played every day in good weather. There are also courts on Bang Tao, Beach, and some hotels offer training sessions with professional coaches (for example, at Arinara Bangtao Beach).
The community organizes games for players of different levels. You don’t need to come with a team — groups are formed from all participants. Training sessions for amateurs are also held by the community.
A few tips before playing beach volleyball:
● Play in the morning or evening. From 7 to 10 a.m. it’s not too hot yet, and in the evening you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. During the day, the sand becomes very hot and the sun is too strong — you risk heatstroke or sunburn.
● Protect your feet. If you decide to play during the day, wear shoes to avoid burns from the hot sand.
● Bring water. At least 1–1.5 liters — staying hydrated in the heat is essential. Isotonic drinks or coconut water also help to quench thirst and restore electrolytes.
● Don’t hesitate to join others. On Phuket’s beaches, teams often form spontaneously. Just ask, “Can I join?” — and most likely, you’ll be part of a team within minutes.
