Question

Tell us about the Contemporary Art Biennale in Phuket. What kind of event is it?

Insider's Response

The Thailand Biennale in Phuket is the largest contemporary art festival in the country. From November 29, 2025 to April 30, 2026, Phuket transforms into a unique open-air gallery. This international contemporary art biennale is a large-scale event featuring works by 65 artists from 25 countries, presented in a wide range of artistic formats — from painting and sculpture to installations and performances.

The main theme of the festival, “Eternal Kalpa”, invites reflection on long stretches of time, inevitable change, humanity and nature, and the fragile balance between them.

Exhibitions and art objects are spread all across the island — from the historic Phuket Old Town to natural areas, beaches, and unusual locations such as abandoned buildings and cultural spaces.

Admission to most venues is free, making the event accessible to both locals and tourists.

You can view a map of all art locations on the official website:

This means that while walking around Phuket, you may unexpectedly come across an art installation, a performance, or a striking art object. In this way, the island turns into one continuous art route.

If you are in Phuket between November 29 and April 30, this is definitely an event worth seeing.
