Question

What should you buy at a Thai pharmacy in case of food poisoning?

Insider's Response

For food poisoning, we recommend a trusted local remedy called Ca-R-Bon — it’s the Thai version of activated charcoal. Another effective option is the Thai emulsion with a white rabbit on the packaging — many people find it even more helpful than charcoal. The Oreda R.O. powder also works well, as does the familiar Smecta, which you can find in most pharmacies.

There’s no need to bring a bulky first-aid kit to Phuket. We’ve put together a list of essential medications that are available even in 7/11 supermarkets and Thai pharmacies. Hopefully, you won’t need them — but it’s always good to be prepared. Stay healthy and take care!
