Question

What time is it in Phuket?

Insider's Response

Phuket is in the UTC+7 time zone. That means the local time is 7 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Interestingly, Thailand is a large country (513,120 sq. km) but operates under a single time zone. So, when traveling across the Land of Smiles, you don’t need to adjust to a different time.

If you’re planning a trip and want to know the current time in Phuket, just calculate the time difference from your local time zone. For example: the time difference with Moscow is +4 hours; with Yekaterinburg, it’s +2 hours; Phuket and Novosibirsk are in the same time zone.

Thailand has another unique time-related fact. The country uses the Buddhist calendar, which is 543 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar. So, in 2025, Thailand is celebrating the year 2568. Read more about Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year, here.

To find out the current time in Phuket, simply add 7 hours to UTC. For example, if it’s 12:00 noon in Greenwich (UTC), it’s 7:00 PM in Phuket. Or just go with the classic method — Google it.
