Question

What’s the situation at Surin Beach? Is it worth planning a vacation there in December, or does the construction interfere?

Insider's Response

Surin Beach is located in the northwest part of the island and is known for its clear water, soft sand, and calm atmosphere. Because of this, it is often chosen for family vacations.

However, Surin Beach is undergoing major changes now. In 2025, the authorities removed all beachfront restaurants and kiosks, and since May, there hasn’t been a single café on the shore. But the beach has gained a more natural look: 800 meters of soft sand with palm trees and casuarinas, and instead of commercial activity — peace and greenery.

At the same time, you can still see traces of recent work, and some areas look abandoned.

In parallel, an ambitious construction project has begun: a viewpoint with a glass bridge on Ta-Ma Cape, which separates Surin from the neighboring coast. The plan includes a three-story observation tower, walkways, rest areas — a full infrastructure upgrade.

Unfortunately, construction is not progressing as fast as expected. In November–December, work will still be ongoing, even though the project is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
