Where to buy a roller inhaler?
Insider's Response
You’ve probably noticed that Thai people often sniff something. Those are the famous inhalers with menthol and eucalyptus, used to relieve cold symptoms. They also help with headaches, nausea, and simply provide a refreshing boost. A small lifesaver for a whole list of problems.
You can find inhalers in several places:
- 7/11 stores
The most convenient option. Inhalers are sold in local convenience stores near you, but they aren’t always in stock. For other medicines you can buy there, check out our article First Aid Kit from 7-eleven. - Pharmacies
If you don’t see the inhaler on the shelves, ask the staff for “ya-hom” (inhaler), and they will guide you. By the way, in the article Thai Pharmacy, we collected medicine equivalents available in Phuket. - Shopping malls
In malls, inhalers are often found in souvenir sections with cosmetics and local products. See the list of the best shopping centers in Phuket here. - Royal Pharmacy
This is a center of traditional Thai medicine specializing in natural remedies and cosmetics. It’s connected with projects under royal patronage aimed at developing organic farming, traditional medicine, and herbal medicine production.
If you go there on a tour, you can also buy inhalers. It’s not worth going there just for them, but you can grab some along with other medicines.
Why are roller inhalers so popular with Thais?
- Camphor oil tones and helps you breathe easier, improving lung function. It’s used for seasickness, colds, and pneumonia.
- Eucalyptus oil has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Its vapors are helpful for flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, and asthma.
