Question

Where to buy ready-to-eat food and snacks in Patong?

Insider's Response

For a quick bite in Patong – the busiest tourist area – you’ll find plenty of options.

Convenience stores

Ready-to-eat food is available in 7/11 supermarkets, which you’ll see everywhere in Phuket. They sell ready meals, the famous sandwiches, onigiri, salads, and much more. A nice touch – frozen meals can be heated right in the store, and the staff usually offer to do it for you.

A similar selection is available at Tops supermarkets.

In Jungceylon Shopping Mall, you’ll find Big C, where the choice of ready-to-eat meals is even wider. There you’ll see Thai rice dishes with meat and seafood, sushi rolls, crepes, pizza, and baked goods. Meals can also be heated and eaten on the spot in the food court.

Pro tip: in the evening, supermarkets often offer discounts of 50% or more on ready-made food!

Food markets

Markets also sell freshly prepared food: meat and veggie skewers, authentic Thai dishes, grilled seafood – you name it. You can ask for takeaway or eat right there. In Patong, the main market is Banzaan Market, which opens as early as 6 a.m., so you can even come for breakfast.

Street food vendors

In busy tourist areas, you’ll often see mobile food carts – “makashnitsa,” basically kitchens on wheels. The variety is huge: fried eggs, chicken wings, pancakes, soups, noodles, fruits. Perfect for a quick snack.
