Back Cat’s Bar on Kata Beach is a spacious, well-kept spot for an evening of drinks and live music. It’s the kind of place where it’s easy to lose track of time: as the night goes on, the room fills with energy — people sing along with the band, dance, and chat around the tables.

The main draw is the live band every night. They usually start around 9:00 PM and play until about 1:00 AM. The setlist leans heavily on rock classics and crowd-pleasing hits — from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Deep Purple to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, and other familiar songs. The sound is punchy and loud; with neighboring bars close by, the mix can sometimes get a bit messy, but the overall vibe stays fun, lively, and club-like.

The drinks menu is straightforward: cocktails are well made and neatly presented, the selection of spirits is broad, and Guinness is available (a pint is roughly 260 THB). Prices are typical for touristy Kata — generally fair, though a few items may feel on the pricey side. It’s worth double-checking the bill before paying.

For groups, there’s free pool (with tables and cues in good condition), plus darts and table tennis. Now and then, guests even play board games with the staff. There’s no real food — just simple snacks like chips and nuts. Service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and refreshingly unpretentious.
