Islander Sports Bar and Restaurant in Rawai is an open-air, laid-back pub where you can just as easily stop by for a family breakfast as settle in for an evening match. The vibe is warm and familiar: service is quick and attentive, and the owner is often hands-on, making sure everyone feels looked after.
The kitchen leans strongly British. Expect a proper English breakfast with crisp black pudding, bacon and eggs with baked beans, bangers and mash, and classic fish and chips. House pies and the Sunday Roast are particular highlights — generous portions, tender meat, vegetables, dumplings, and rich gravy. For dessert, many go for the apple and berry crumble served with custard. Behind the bar you’ll find draught beer, including Guinness, and HP sauce is on hand for the snacks.
It’s also built for sport on big screens: there are multiple TVs (up to eight) showing different games, and staff will usually put on your match if you ask. Groups can play pool or table football, and pool games and small competitions are held from time to time.
The menu isn’t limited to Western comfort food — there are Thai options too (curries, for example). Drinks are reasonably priced, and the cocktails are better than you might expect from a sports bar. That said, the food can be a little inconsistent: items like burgers or nachos sometimes feel simpler than anticipated, and the mashed potatoes can taste a bit bland. Overall, it’s a convenient spot in central Rawai for a home-style meal, a pint, and a game you don’t want to miss.
