Kathu Cobra Show in Phuket is a small venue conveniently located next to Tiger Kingdom and the go-kart track, making it an easy stop if you’re passing by. The space is compact: glass terrariums with different snakes line the perimeter, and a mini amphitheater sits in the center for the performance. Most visitors spend about 30 minutes in total, including the show.
The main attraction is an interactive show lasting roughly 15–20 minutes. Several species are brought into the arena — most notably a king cobra, along with a mangrove snake and a python — switching between venomous and non-venomous snakes. The hosts are energetic and joke a lot, while also explaining the animals’ behavior and highlighting how dangerous careless handling can be; the handlers’ bite scars are hard to miss. Audience participation is a big part of the program: guests are often invited to hold a snake, drape one around their neck, pet it, and take photos — sometimes they even suggest kissing the cobra. You can usually take photos on your own camera, while printed photos cost around 300 THB.
Tickets are often listed at 700 THB per person (admission from age 2), and opening hours are typically 09:00–17:00. The experience is aimed at thrill-seekers: you’re extremely close to the snakes, with minimal barriers, which can feel unsafe for some visitors — especially those with children.
One more consideration is ethics. Some of the techniques used during the show may appear harsh. It’s also wise to avoid questionable “helpers” near the road and not follow strangers who offer to lead you to the entrance.
