King Rama IX Park is the largest park in Phuket. It holds great significance for the local community as it is dedicated to the memory of one of Thailand’s most respected monarchs, King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). He ruled the country from 1946 to 2016, becoming one of the longest-reigning monarchs in world history.
This park is a must-visit for those looking for a mix of relaxation in the shade and an active lifestyle. On both sides of the lake, there are free outdoor fitness machines and a running track. The football and basketball courts are well-maintained and seamlessly integrated into the park’s landscape. Surrounded by lush greenery and blooming plants, exercising here becomes a true pleasure.
King Rama IX Park also regularly hosts cultural and educational events, including the traditional Songkran festival (Thai New Year) in April and Loy Krathong (the festival of water, spirit, and light), celebrated during the full moon in November.
The park features several cafés, street food stalls, and public restrooms.
