King Rama IX Park is the largest park in Phuket. It is significant to locals as it is dedicated to the memory of one of Thailand’s most beloved and respected monarchs, King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). He ruled the country from 1946 to 2016, becoming the longest reigning monarch in modern Thai history and one of the longest reigning monarchs in world history. The park was created to honor his contribution to the development of the country and the welfare of the people of Thailand.
This park is a true sanctuary for those looking for the perfect combination of relaxation in the shade and an active lifestyle. Here, green jogging paths are scattered amongst the trees and palm trees, giving joggers the opportunity to enjoy nature during their workouts.
On both sides of the lake, free exercise equipments are provided, embedded in the surrounding nature, where visitors can keep fit. Here, among the greenery and flowering plants, exercising becomes a pleasure and the vast expanse of the park invites to a healthy and active lifestyle.
The soccer and basketball courts are carefully arranged and integrated into the park landscape, which creates conditions for team games and spectacular competitions.
In this way, the city park with its jogging paths, exercise equipments and sports fields becomes a suitable place where recreation and activity are intertwined, creating an atmosphere for all who value health care and natural beauty.
The park regularly hosts cultural and educational events, including the traditional Songkran (Thai New Year) festival, which is celebrated in April and Loikrathong (the festival of spirit, water and light), which celebrates at the November full moon.
