Kong Cafe is a small hillside café on the road to Nui Beach, easy to spot thanks to its King Kong statue and dedicated photo spots. The main reason to come up here is the sweeping ocean panorama and sunset views: from the terrace you can see the bay below with boats, making it a great place to pause briefly with a drink and a camera.
Getting there isn’t always straightforward. The final stretch is a steep dirt track (roughly the last kilometer) with frequent ATV and buggy traffic. Reaching it by scooter is possible if you’re an experienced rider, but some cars and taxis don’t make it all the way; in some cases it’s easier to walk the last part or use a buggy. During peak hours, tour activity can make it noisier, but at other times the spot feels calm and secluded.
The menu is geared toward simple meals and relaxing with a view: Thai dishes and fruit shakes (smoothies are around 80 THB), plus cocktails, coconut ice cream, juices, and other cold drinks. You’ll find items like pad Thai, tom yum, chicken massaman, chicken wings, and fruit platters — generous portions that are also convenient to take away. Coffee isn’t always available. There’s a restroom on site; card payments may not always go through, so it’s best to carry cash. The staff are attentive and helpful in unexpected situations, though some aspects of service and drink quality can be inconsistent.
