La Scala is an Italian restaurant at Katathani Resort on Kata Beach, Phuket — designed for unhurried, lingering dinners. The space feels both elegant and welcoming: soft lighting, thoughtfully set tables, large Italian-themed paintings on the walls, and a grand piano at the heart of the dining room. Live piano music sets the tone for the evening and adds a distinctly romantic touch, while the restaurant also offers pleasant views, including sunsets.
The kitchen focuses on authentic Italian flavors with refined presentation. Highlights include beef carpaccio with arugula and fresh truffle; grilled octopus with chickpea cream and Mediterranean notes; lobster ravioli in truffle sauce; and a strong pasta selection, including creamy and rosé-style sauces. You’ll also find squid-ink spaghetti, lasagna, seafood risotto, beef tenderloin with red wine sauce, and grilled fish. Desserts are consistently excellent — especially the tiramisu. The wine list stands out, and the olive oil selection feels curated rather than token.
Service is attentive and professional: pacing is generally well managed, staff are friendly, and they’re happy to accommodate children and special requests; guests may even receive a small compliment from the chef. During peak hours, the room can get busy and a bit cramped, and when the restaurant is fully booked, timing and precision may slip. On some evenings, dinner may be served in a more compact room with a slightly less “showpiece” atmosphere. Prices are above average, and booking ahead is a good idea if you’re aiming for a quieter night.
