MON TEX MEX

MON TEX MEX is a small family-run café in the Rawai / Nai Harn area of Phuket. Its menu brings together Mexican–Thai dishes alongside familiar European classics. The vibe is calm and unhurried, with a warm, homey atmosphere and genuinely attentive service.

On the Mexican side, the standout choices are the shrimp and chicken quesadillas. You’ll also find tacos, fajitas, nachos, and burritos — and if you’re coming for dinner, a margarita is a great match. Meat lovers often go for the ribs, which many guests return for specifically because they’re flavorful and juicy. The Thai menu is just as strong: Pad Thai, Massaman curry, and Panang curry with rice taste “homemade,” with bright spices and neat presentation.

If you’d rather switch from spicy food to something more familiar, there are burgers and club sandwiches, plus spaghetti bolognese and carbonara. Pasta comes with a small side salad, and portions are generous overall. Everything is cooked fresh to order. The smoothies are also worth trying — especially the passion fruit.

One of MON TEX MEX’s biggest advantages is its very affordable pricing for Rawai and the excellent balance of cost, taste, and portion size. A few things to keep in mind: evening hours can sometimes be inconsistent, the nearby road can be a bit noisy, and mosquitoes may be an issue outside during warmer months. There’s plenty of parking, but the café sits slightly off the main flow, so it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it.
