Mountain View Bar Sakda is a no-frills roadside spot perched on a hill above Patong — people come here for the wide panoramic view of the entire town and the bay. It’s an easy place to step away from the beach-street buzz for a couple of hours: up top it’s quieter, less crowded, and on hot days you’ll usually catch a pleasant sea breeze.
The best time to visit is at sunset or shortly after. As the sun drops into the ocean and Patong’s lights start to sparkle below, the bar becomes a great sundowner stop. The music stays in the background, and they’ll often put on whatever suits the group’s mood.
Expect a very simple setup: this is a bar, not a destination for food. You’ll find beer, soft drinks, juices, iced tea, and smoothies (served in small portions). Sometimes there are basic snacks, but there may be no proper menu at all — and you shouldn’t count on things like coffee. Prices are generally reasonable for a hilltop location, though some items can feel a bit higher than down in town.
Service is friendly and informal, almost family-style, though English may be limited. The road up is very steep, so it’s best to get there by motorbike or by taxi/tuk-tuk; walking is long and tough. At times there’s hardly anyone up there, which only adds to the sense of privacy and escape.
