Known as the “Temple of White Blood”, this temple complex is believed to be the oldest Buddhist building, although there is no documented evidence of this.
One of the legends of the temple is based on the war events of 1785. During a battle between the people of Phuket and the Burmese, a woman was mortally wounded with white blood oozing from her wounds.
In the temple there are many Buddhist attributes: various statues of Buddha, a symbolic footprint of the teacher, the wheel of samsara, snake-like mythical creatures Naga and frightening demons. The temple’s main assets are three pewter statues of Buddha. In their bellies are placed smaller statues, due to which they are popularly nicknamed “Monks in the Belly”. They are also called “Three Kings”.
The territory of the complex is harmoniously complemented by ponds and pavilions. This is a quiet and peaceful place that is worth visiting. For a visit to the temple, choose clothes that cover your knees and shoulders.
