Rim Talay Restaurant is Amari Phuket’s beachfront dining spot, tucked away in a quieter part of Patong. Set right by the water beside the pool, it offers both an indoor dining room and an open-air terrace where you can catch the sea breeze. Its biggest draw is the sweeping panorama over Patong Bay and the Andaman Sea — especially striking at sunset and in the evening, when the soft lighting comes on and live music adds to the atmosphere.
The restaurant runs a flexible dining concept. Mornings are all about a generous breakfast buffet featuring Thai, Chinese, Western, and Indian options, along with fruit and desserts. Lunch and dinner shift to an extensive à la carte menu, complemented on selected days by themed buffet nights and special events such as Butcher Night or seafood set menus. The Thai selection is a strong point, with highlights like crab curry, pad Thai, pad krapow, massaman curry, green papaya salad, “catch of the day” dishes, and sashimi. Portions are well-sized and presentation is neat.
The drinks list is a standout too, with seasonal mixes, smoothies, classic cocktails, and a sunset happy hour. Families are well looked after with high chairs available, and the team can help arrange celebratory dinners. Staff are attentive to requests, including adjusting spice levels.
That said, both kitchen consistency and service pace can be uneven. Wait times sometimes stretch even when the restaurant isn’t busy, and certain European or Indian dishes may fall short. Breakfast coffee can be hit or miss, and prices are above the Patong average (even bottled water isn’t cheap). The restaurant is located within the hotel grounds and reached via stairs, and contactless payments aren’t available — bring a card or cash.
