A small museum in the lobby of the Tavorn Hotel in Old Town offers a guided tour of the antiques and vintage collection. Many antiques, including traditional Chinese wedding hats, tin mining equipment, toy trains, opium smoking cushions and beds, and old photographs are collected by the Thai-Chinese family that owns the Tavorn Hotel chain.
Phuket’s history is shown here through the lens of an influential Chinese immigrant and his family, who ran many of the region’s businesses. The museum consists of several rooms and is self-guided and self-exploring. Check it out as you stroll through the Old Town for an even more authentic experience.
