The Yoga Shala Rawai is a yoga studio and café in Rawai, Phuket, tucked away from the road in a lush garden. The space has a bamboo-inspired design and an indoor/outdoor setup: plenty of greenery, natural shade, the soothing sound of fountain water, and good airflow thanks to fans. You may even spot a few cats wandering through the garden — and it’s worth applying mosquito repellent before class.
The schedule includes Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Hatha, and back health classes. Teaching is technical and well-structured, with a clear focus on alignment, breath, safe transitions, and timely adjustments. The more dynamic sessions feature plenty of strength work, arm balances, and inversions — great for anyone looking to build strength and flexibility and willing to push beyond their comfort zone. That said, the pacing and delivery can feel quite strict: some sequences are taught primarily through verbal cues and Sanskrit pose names, so beginners may feel more comfortable starting with gentler classes.
Booking is straightforward: reserve online and pay on arrival. There are several classes each day; a single drop-in is 300 THB, and a weekly unlimited pass is 1,000 THB. Mats and blocks are provided.
After practice, it’s easy to stay for a meal at the café, which serves Thai food along with coffee and smoothies. Popular choices include tom yum, pad thai, curries (including vegetarian options), breakfast dishes, and fish. Occasionally, the café may be closed outside its usual hours.
