WABI SABI by Kapi Sushi Box at Anona Beachfront Resort is a compact Japanese spot in Phuket, set right by the sea. Large windows face the beach, making it an easy place for a relaxed dinner with a view of the promenade — while air-conditioning and fans keep the heat out.
The menu is built around fresh sushi and sashimi: maki and rolls, plus nigiri (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail are especially good). If you’re after something more substantial, there are options like wagyu steak, teppanyaki, and tempura squid. You’ll also find eye-catching fusion rolls with bold presentation, though the classic combinations tend to shine the most. The drinks list includes sake sets, Asahi on draft, and spirits such as shochu; the coffee is surprisingly solid, too. For dessert, the strawberry kakigori is a great choice.
Service is friendly and unobtrusive — orders come out quickly, the staff are happy to recommend dishes, and they may even add a nice touch if you’re celebrating. The dining room is clean and tidy, with a casual, no-frills vibe and pleasant background music.
A few things to note: drinks and beer can cost more than the food, and tax is added to the bill. The ramen is the restaurant’s own take on the dish — if you’re looking for a truly classic tonkotsu, it makes more sense to focus on the sushi here. The restroom isn’t inside the restaurant but elsewhere on the hotel grounds. Depending on where you’re seated, it can feel a bit warm, and the lighting above the tables is quite bright. Also, the soy sauce is noticeably salty.
