The Windmill Viewpoint, located in the southern part of Phuket Island, gets its name from the wind turbine installed on the hillside. There is a gazebo here offering a breathtaking view of the sunset and the Andaman Sea.
It’s best to plan your visit in the afternoon, so you can explore the area in daylight and then enjoy the sunset while watching the coastline light up at night. Keep in mind that in the tropics, due to the proximity to the equator, sunsets are quick, so it’s a good idea to arrive early, around 4–5 PM.
You can reach Windmill Viewpoint by car; there is a parking lot, though it’s small, so arriving early or parking along the road is recommended. It’s about a 25-minute walk uphill from Nai Harn Beach, so bring water if you’re going on foot. There’s also a small stand on-site selling ice cream and snacks.
