Windmill Viewpoint, located in the southern part of Phuket Island, got its name from the wind turbine installed on the hillside.
The viewpoint offers a stunning panorama of the Andaman Sea and islands, Nai Harn and Yanui beaches, Promthep Cape, as well as a mountain with another viewpoint — Black Rock.
The area features a platform often used for photoshoots and picnics, a gazebo where you can take shelter from the sun, a small tent selling drinks and ice cream, and a parking area.
This spot will appeal not only to those who love beautiful views and sunsets but also to thrill-seekers. You can enjoy paragliding here and feel like a free bird soaring over the sea and jungles.
It’s best to plan your visit for the afternoon so you can explore the area in daylight, then watch the sunset and see the coastline illuminated by night lights. Keep in mind that in the tropics, due to the proximity to the equator, sunsets happen quickly, so it’s advisable to arrive at the Windmill Viewpoint well in advance, around 4–5 PM.
You can get here by car, and there is parking, but it’s small, so arrive early or park along the road. It’s about a 25-minute walk from Nai Harn Beach, but it’s an uphill climb, so it’s better to bring water with you.
