Weather in Phuket in SEPTEMBER

September is a more popular time for vacations in Thailand compared to summer months. The weather back home is getting worse, and the school year is just starting, so you might be able to “skip” the first few days. Here’s what the weather will be like in Phuket in September ⬇️

☔️ Rainfall. September is one of the top three rainiest months on the island, with about 19 days of rain. In the begining of the month, the rain might last for half the day, but as the month progresses, it usually shortens in duration. There will still be time to sunbathe, and experiencing a tropical downpour is a unique pleasure itself.

🌡 Air Temperature. It usually ranges from +31°C during the day to +25°C at night — it’s always warm on the island, but without the stifling heat.

☀️ Sunny/Cloudy Days. Most days in September will be cloudy, but this won’t stop you from getting a tan. On the plus side, walks and excursions become much more comfortable due to the absence of blazing sun.

🌊 Sea. The sea remains warm (around +29°C), but it is still unsettled. Beaches often display red flags, indicating swimming is prohibited — pay attention to these warnings.

🏝️ Reminder of the beaches with the least waves:

🏫 Popular places to visit in September:

🌙 Interesting Fact: September marks the Mooncake Festival. In supermarkets, bakeries, and 7-Eleven stores, you can try mooncakes traditionally made with salted duck egg yolk and sesame paste. It’s also a popular time for weddings in Thailand, with most Thai weddings taking place in September 🤵🏻 👰‍♀️

Should you visit Phuket in September ❔ To decide, weigh the pros and cons. Many tourists choose this time to extend their summer — though it may be cloudy, it’s still tropical, warm, and full of vibrant colors 🏝
