The best cafes for sunset dinner

Where to have dinner at sunset?

Dinner with a view of the sunset is a unique pleasure. Phuket has many beachfront spots offering breathtaking panoramic views of the sun setting beyond the horizon. We’re sharing a selection of cafes and restaurants across different areas of the island so you can choose the one that suits you best — both in terms of location and ambiance.

The Commune and A Blanket & a Pillow

The Commune

During the day, it’s the perfect spot to relax on a beautiful terrace with a view of the Andaman Sea, and in the evening, it turns into a trendy club serving great cocktails with the island’s top DJs. If you love electronic music, you’ll definitely enjoy it here.

The two beachfront venues, The Commune and A Blanket & A Pillow, form a shared space where you can have dinner, dance, and have a good time. After 6 PM, there is an entry fee of 140 baht, which includes a drink.

Patong.

Meg Khram the Sunshine & Submarine 23 Bar

Meg Khram the Sunshine & Submarine 23 Bar

A restaurant with beautiful interior design located in the northern part of Patong, offering a stunning panoramic view. It’s a versatile spot perfect for family dinners, romantic dates, and parties with friends.

The menu mainly features Thai cuisine with a focus on seafood. The prices are above average, but this is compensated by the portion sizes and elegant presentation. We recommend booking a table in advance, as the restaurant is quite popular.

Nai Harn.

Summore Day

Summore Day

A green oasis with a view of the endless sea. The restaurant has two terraces where you can relax on soft pillows or poufs and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The menu consists of Thai and European dishes, along with a variety of cocktails and other refreshing drinks.

Summore Day has a serene atmosphere, but it’s best to avoid coming at the same time as Chinese tour groups. The location is close to Promthep Cape, so they sometimes stop by, making it quite noisy.

Kata/Kata Noi.

Heaven Restaurant & Bar

Heaven Restaurant & Bar

A restaurant for true aesthetes, located just behind the Karon Viewpoint. But the view here is even better: a 360-degree panorama that includes three beaches — Karon, Kata, and Kata Noi — as well as the jungle and the sea. You get the feeling you can see the curve of the Earth.

The menu offers Thai and European dishes. The prices are above average, but the view more than makes up for it. We recommend booking a table in advance, as many people want to experience one of the best sunsets of their lives here.

Kamala.

Pine

Pine

Hidden on Kamala Beach is a true gem — the beach bar Pine. It is located right at the water’s edge, and there’s also a swimming pool here, so Pine can safely be classified as a trendy beach club. Visitors especially note the attentive staff, who responsibly cater to the wishes of each guest. The menu includes dishes of Thai and European cuisine, good cocktails, and other refreshing drinks.

Smile bar

Smile bar

Another bar in Kamala that can be highly recommended. This place is literally made for hot evenings: every Friday and Saturday at 9:00 PM, there’s a fire show. You can comfortably watch the magic of fire from poufs by the sea.

Undoubtedly, the main advantage of Smile Bar is its location. The restaurant is right in front of the beach, offering stunning views. Watching the sun disappear behind the horizon from here is a true pleasure.

In addition, the restaurant offers a refined European menu, with attentive and friendly staff.

Sai Kaew Beach.

On this beach, even during high season, it’s a real stroke of luck to encounter anyone. That’s because there are no hotels nearby and only one café. Here it is, this secret spot: a hidden restaurant on the beach with a beautiful view, away from the eyes of noisy tourists. It’s located far from the roads, so you can enjoy the quiet and the sound of the ocean waves. Visitors recommend trying the crab, tom yum, and coffee — it’s especially good here.

Panwa.

Tarzan Sea Side Cafe

Usually, visitors of the rope park stop by this café, but if you appreciate a beautiful view, it’s worth coming here just for that. Tarzan Sea Side Cafe is located on a hill in the jungle, offering a panorama of the sea, the southern part of Phuket, and, of course, the sunset.

The road to the café may seem a bit challenging due to steep climbs and descents, but it can be navigated by any car or even a motorbike.

The interior is simple but charming. Everything is made from wood and straw, including the furniture and even the light fixtures. There are several hammocks and swings. The menu offers Thai dishes at affordable prices.

Surin.

Beach Restaurant by The Surin Phuket

An open-air beachfront restaurant is a perfect choice for a romantic sunset date. At the same time, the menu is fully restaurant-quality: guests particularly highlight the tasting set, the wide selection of wines, reasonable prices, and attentive staff.

The restaurant is part of a hotel. Many people want to enjoy a beautiful evening at Beach Restaurant by The Surin Phuket, so it’s best to book a table in advance.
