Which area is best to stay in if you want lots of cafes, restaurants, and entertainment nearby?
Insider's Response
If an active social life is important to you while on vacation, choose an area with well-developed tourist infrastructure. The liveliest and most vibrant district is Patong — it’s the heart of Phuket’s nightlife, and you’ll find restaurants and cafes on nearly every corner. For upscale dining, chic beach clubs, and stylish parties, head to the more luxurious area of Bang Tao, where high-end service and a refined atmosphere are guaranteed.
Kata and Karon also offer plenty of restaurants and nightlife spots, but they’re generally more laid-back compared to the options above. If being close to swimmable beaches isn’t a top priority, you might also consider Phuket Town — the historic center of the island. It’s full of bars with authentic character and restaurants that will satisfy any foodie.
