Ao Yon Seaside Restaurant is a simple, homey waterfront spot in Phuket with lovely bay views. The dining area is spacious and airy, with lots of wood throughout the interior. In the evening, a cool breeze comes in from the sea and it can get a bit windy. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious, with pleasant background music and the feel of a family-run place.

The menu focuses on Thai classics and seafood. One standout is the whole snapper, served grilled, steamed, or fried, paired with sauces such as ginger–soy or a lemongrass-and-tamarind blend. Curries are another strong point (Massaman, yellow, and green), along with a boldly flavored tom yum and consistently good pad thai. Portions are generous, flavors are well balanced without excessive sweetness, and the kitchen can make dishes genuinely spicy if you ask. There are also “resort-style” options like pineapple fried rice with shrimp, shrimp and crab soups, sweet-and-sour pork ribs, grilled chicken, papaya salad, and roti.

Drinks are prepared with care: fruit shakes, Thai iced tea, strong coffee (including Thai iced coffee), and beer served properly cold. The staff are friendly and attentive and are happy to accommodate requests — from swapping chicken for tofu to other adjustments; occasionally, someone may even chat a bit in Russian. Prices are reasonable for a seaside location, and card payments are accepted for orders of 300 THB or more.

On rare occasions, service timing can be inconsistent: wait times may run long, and appetizers sometimes arrive together with the main dishes. A few items — such as spring rolls or mango sticky rice — may not live up to expectations. In the low season, the restaurant also sometimes closes earlier than the menu hours suggest.
