The largest waterfall on the island and a pleasant place for walks surrounded by exotic plants and refreshing coolness is Bang Pae Waterfall on Phuket.
The waterfall mainly consists of one large main cascade that flows down from a height. Its height is about 15 meters. At the base, there is a natural pool where you can swim. The water is refreshing!
The best time to see the waterfall at its most impressive is during the rainy season (approximately from May to October). During this period, the flow is stronger, more powerful, and more spectacular. In the dry season, there may be much less water, and the waterfall can turn into a thin stream, especially in the driest months (April–May).
The path to the waterfall runs through a national park. Entrance to the national park is paid (around ~200 ฿ for adults).
Be careful: the path to Bang Pae can be slippery, so it’s best to wear closed-toe shoes. Also, there are quite a lot of mosquitoes here in the afternoon, so bring insect repellent.
Within the national park that includes Bang Pae, there is also a gibbon rehabilitation center.
On the other side of the hill, there is another well-known waterfall — Ton Sai. It is connected to Bang Pae Waterfall by a trail that takes about three hours to complete. The route passes through dense jungle, bamboo groves, and rubber plantations. The trek is very scenic but suitable only for well-prepared travelers.
