Blue Elephant Phuket Cooking School & Restaurant is a true legend of Thailand. This elegant restaurant is located in a beautiful early 20th-century mansion in Phuket’s Old Town.

The inspirer and main driving force behind Blue Elephant’s success is Chef Nooror Somany Steppe. Thai cuisine is her passion, and her creative approach has become the foundation for the brand’s development.

For more than 40 years, Chef Nooror has acted as an ambassador of Thai gastronomy and culture worldwide.

Her principle is simple: “It is impossible to cook good Thai food without good Thai ingredients.”

The story of Blue Elephant began in the 1970s when Nooror met Belgian businessman Karel Steppe. After their wedding in 1980, they, together with Thai partners, opened the first Blue Elephant restaurant in Brussels.

Later, Nooror returned to Thailand and led the development of the brand in her home country. In 2002, the Blue Elephant restaurant and cooking school opened in Bangkok, and in 2010 – in Phuket.

Today, Blue Elephant is not only restaurants but also cooking schools, catering, consulting, and product manufacturing, introducing Thai cuisine to the whole world.

At Blue Elephant, dishes of Royal Thai Cuisine – one of the most sophisticated directions of national gastronomy – are served. The menu is based on traditional recipes once prepared at the royal court of Siam: with a delicate balance of flavors, complex cooking techniques, and elegant presentation.

Blue Elephant restaurants use only fresh and high-quality ingredients, many of which are supplied in cooperation with local farming projects.

The service is also royal: it is designed like a scenario for special occasions, with attentive guidance and assistance in choosing dishes. Prices fall into the fine dining category, so they are higher than in ordinary Thai restaurants – but it is worth it.

And don’t forget the dress code: smart casual attire is required.
