Cherhouse is a hilltop spot in Phuket where the main attraction is the panoramic view. From here you can see Kata and Karon, the coastline, and the silhouette of the Big Buddha on the neighbouring mountain. It’s especially beautiful in the late afternoon and at sunset, when a cool breeze comes in and the air feels noticeably fresher than down below.
It’s set up as a café-restaurant with several seating areas — indoors as well as open-air terraces surrounded by greenery. The grounds feel like a garden with coffee bushes and flower beds: it’s lovely to wander around, look at the plants, and catch the scent of blooming coffee. The vibe is calm and unhurried, though it can get busier when tour groups stop by.
The menu mixes Thai dishes with lighter bites. Pad Thai, chicken fried rice, soups, and smoothies are reliable choices; there are also breakfast items, spring rolls, sandwiches, and a wide range of drinks — from matcha lattes and Americanos to the local Cha Som Kai tea. Desserts and jams are made from homemade-style recipes, the drink list is broad (including alcohol), and portions are generous. Prices are mid-range for the island, although a few items can be inconsistent in quality.
Getting here takes more effort than reaching Phuket’s main tourist areas: the climb is long and steep in places, so a motorbike or car is the most convenient option. Navigation apps don’t always lead you the right way, and midday heat can feel stifling on exposed sections of the road. In the evening, it’s worth bringing mosquito repellent and choosing terrace tables with a bit of care. For those who want to stay overnight, there are three cosy rooms, and the property also has a swimming pool.
