Diving in Phuket: Key Features

Phuket is considered one of the best places in Thailand to experience scuba diving for the first time. Unlike many other regions, it offers dive sites with gentle underwater terrain, excellent visibility, and calm conditions.

The main advantage of diving here is the incredible diversity of marine life. During your dives, you can see coral reefs, schools of tropical fish, moray eels, octopuses, cuttlefish, rays, and sea turtles. Occasionally, reef sharks and even manta rays can be spotted, although these encounters depend on the season and, of course, a bit of luck.

Another highlight of diving in the Andaman Sea is its excellent underwater visibility. Around the Racha Islands, for example, visibility is typically between 15 and 25 meters, and on favorable days it can be even greater.

Diving in Phuket is available almost year-round. Even during the rainy season, most programs continue to operate, while Racha Yai and Racha Noi remain among the most popular destinations thanks to their sheltered bays and excellent diving conditions.

Now let's take a closer look at each option.

Diving for Beginners

from 3,800 THB | suitable for beginners | full-day trip
Booking: WhatsApp, Telegram, Max

If you've never tried scuba diving before, the best place to start is at Racha Yai and Racha Noi Islands. The sea here is calm, the visibility is excellent, and the gently sloping coral reefs make it an ideal location for beginners.

Before the dive, your instructor will provide a detailed safety briefing, help you get familiar with the equipment, and accompany you throughout the dive.

No certification or previous experience is required — the program is specifically designed for beginners.

During your dives, you'll have the chance to see coral reefs, colorful tropical fish, moray eels, sea urchins, and many other fascinating inhabitants of the Andaman Sea.

You can choose between a route with two dives at Racha Yai or a program that also includes Racha Noi Island. A third dive is also available for an additional fee if you would like to extend your experience.

Diving for Certified Divers

from 4,200 THB | certification required | full-day trip
Booking: WhatsApp, Telegram, Max

This program is designed for divers who already hold an internationally recognized certification and want to explore Phuket's best dive sites. Depending on the route you choose, you'll enjoy three dives around Racha Yai and Racha Noi Islands, the Phi Phi archipelago, or the legendary King Cruiser, Shark Point, and Koh Doc Mai dive sites.

Each location offers a unique underwater landscape. Some feature spectacular coral reefs and huge schools of fish, while others are known for dramatic walls, a sunken ferry, or the chance to encounter larger marine life.

For experienced divers with an AOWD certification, a special program is available featuring dives at the sunken King Cruiser ferry, Shark Point, and Koh Doc Mai — one of the most famous diving routes near Phuket.

Liveaboard Diving Safari to the Similan Islands

from 11,600 THB | not available for pregnant women | 2 days / 1 night
Booking: WhatsApp, Telegram, Max

The Similan Islands are one of Thailand's most famous diving destinations and a true must-visit for underwater enthusiasts. This national park is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, massive granite boulders, vibrant coral reefs, and rich marine life.

This is a full liveaboard diving safari with accommodation on board. Over the course of two days, you'll complete four dives, including a night dive, when the underwater world reveals a completely different side.

Between dives, you'll have time for snorkeling, relaxing on pristine white-sand beaches, and visiting the famous Sail Rock viewpoint.

The program is suitable not only for divers but also for those who are not yet ready to dive or are unable to do so for health reasons. While some guests explore the underwater world, others can enjoy snorkeling, relax on board, or spend time on the islands.

Thanks to the overnight stay on the boat, you'll experience the Similan Islands at a more relaxed pace and visit far more dive sites than on a typical one-day excursion.
