Elephant Benyaran safari

Elephant Benyaran Safari is a small, rural sanctuary park that is home to a family of four elephants spanning several generations: an adult “grandmother,” her daughters (one of them pregnant), and a young female elephant. The setting is intimate, and if you come early — especially right at opening — you can often enjoy the visit with few or even no other guests around.

The experience focuses on calm, respectful interaction and daily care. There are no elephant rides and no staged performances. Your guide starts with safety rules, then introduces each elephant — sharing her background and personality — and shows you the correct way to approach and gently touch them. Typical activities include feeding (bananas, sugarcane, and leaves), trunk “kisses” and cuddles, a walk around the grounds, and bathing or rinsing the elephants with water. Staff are happy to help you get good photos and videos throughout.

A few practical notes: the road can be winding, and the entrance is easy to miss — look for the fence and a staff member waiting to greet you. You’ll likely get soaked during the bathing part, so bringing a change of clothes is a good idea. Prices are usually in the 350–700 THB range (often around 500 THB including treats and bathing; an extra basket of food is roughly 100 THB). For safety and control, the elephants may be on a rope during some interactions, and the pace can feel fairly quick and very “photo-friendly.” It’s a good option for families with children: the elephants can come quite close, while staff supervise and explain how to behave around a young elephant.
